The organization responsible for Ludlow in Bloom will no longer receive funding, as the town council is set to assume responsibility for the event’s yearly coordination. The group has been responsible for installing floral decorations in the town since 1999, accumulating 20 gold awards throughout its tenure. Councillor Viv Parry, who currently chairs the group, expressed significant distress upon learning of the development. While she accepts the council’s resolution, she stated: “I’m very sad about it.” Ludlow Town Council has been approached for comment regarding the situation. Ms Parry commented: “I honestly think if they had just given me a chance we would have been able to carry on and do what we’ve always done before.” She further added: “But I feel it’s no good arguing with the town council, if they decide on something, it’s the councillors that decide and if they decide on something then you’ve got to go with that.” Ms Parry, who has led the initiative for the last 12 years, described the effort as demanding yet consistently gratifying. She elaborated: “Last year, we got the highest marks we’ve ever had.. and they said it was because we were a good community and we appreciated all the things we had done for us.” Ms Parry expressed her hope that the incoming team will “work towards the same way we did it,” ensuring the continuation of the effort and its role in attracting visitors to the town.
