Christine Jane, a resident of Launceston, Cornwall, recounted her reaction upon discovering that she and her husband, Nick, had secured a National Lottery win, stating, “The lottery said congratulations you’ve won a million pounds and I fell off the bed.” The National Lottery, established by the Camelot Group in 1994 and celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has distributed £94 billion in prizes and charitable grants. The probability of winning is estimated at 45 million to one. Mrs. Jane affirmed that despite their sudden acquisition of wealth, the substantial winnings had not altered their fundamental character. According to Mrs. Jane, “We’re still the same people, loving people, caring people, money hasn’t changed us whatsoever.” The couple was approximately one week from their wedding day when a colleague at work prompted Mr. Jane to purchase a lottery ticket on October 14, 2022. Mrs. Jane recounted checking her numbers the following day and contacting the lottery organization, initially believing her prize to be £100,000. She mentioned that the individual on the phone inquired if she was seated, to which she confirmed she was. “The lottery people said, ‘congratulations you’ve won a million pounds’ and I fell off the bed,” she stated. She continued, “We couldn’t believe it, my husband couldn’t believe it when he came from work. We had to show him the ticket… still now we cant believe it.” Mrs. Jane revealed that their initial significant purchase as a couple was a “nice big lovely house.” She added, “Some new cars, a family home, a bungalow and my sister in law is living in the bungalow now.” Furthermore, she noted, “We bought him [her husband] a van because he wanted a van, so I bought him a van.” Post navigation Rescued Kittens from “Filthy” Hutch in Bradford Seek New Homes, RSPCA Announces Loughborough’s Historic Fair Set to Welcome Thousands Upon Its Return
