The Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth reported that they received a call to the Hen Tor area around 17:00 GMT on Tuesday, following a 999 call from the two individuals. The team stated that their rescuers assisted police in locating the walkers, who had been unable to navigate their return to their vehicle. The team commented, “The two lost walkers did the correct thing by staying where they were and using their torch to illuminate their location.” They added, “As a result, the light was spotted by the team on the opposite side of the valley.” The rescue organization indicated that the pair were discovered after law enforcement transmitted a SARLOC text, described as a system utilized to aid in finding lost individuals, to one of the walkers.
