Motorists encountered delays after a lorry collided with a low bridge in Leicestershire. The railway bridge on A5 Watling Street in Hinckley, which was once designated the “most bashed” bridge in Britain, was struck by a lorry on Monday afternoon, according to National Highways. Leicestershire Police indicated that the road was closed in both directions, specifically between the roundabout at Nutts Lane and the roundabout at Coventry Road. The force subsequently announced that it was reopened at approximately 15:55 GMT. The bridge had also been hit by a lorry last month, and high vehicles had struck it 88 times between 2017 and September 2022. A study released last year determined that the numerous incidents occurring around the bridge had resulted in thousands of pounds in costs to the local economy.
