Lloyds Bank International is set to close one of its two remaining dedicated branches on the Isle of Man next year, attributing the decision to a decline in usage. This particular branch, situated on Parliament Street in Ramsey, will cease operations for customers on February 10. The bank stated that this decision was made after personal customer transactions at the facility decreased by one-third. As a result of this closure, the organization’s sole location offering in-person banking services will be the Villiers House site on Victoria Street, located in the island’s capital. The organization reported a 33% reduction in the use of its in-person services for personal transactions over a six-year period, concluding at the end of 2023. A spokesperson for Lloyds indicated that mobile banking has become “more popular than ever,” leading to a trend of visits to the Ramsey branch “falling over time.” The spokesperson further confirmed that services continue to be available through the mobile app, online platforms, and telephone. Additionally, the organization provides certain banking services at Isle of Man Post Office branches in Castletown and Peel, with these facilities slated to become available in Ramsey starting November 25. This announcement follows previous closures of regional branches by the Isle of Man Bank in recent years, which were also attributed to an increase in customers shifting to online banking. In January 2021, the Isle of Man Bank, which is owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland International, closed its dedicated facilities in Castletown and Peel.
