Lincolnshire Archives is pursuing improved security provisions subsequent to reports from its personnel detailing experiences of violence and threats during their arrival at and departure from the premises. A planning application submitted for the facility, located on St Rumbold’s Street, in proximity to Lincoln city centre, indicated an increase in anti-social behaviour in the vicinity of the structure, including evidence of suspected drug use. The application specifically identifies the car park and individuals obstructing fire escapes as areas of concern. The county council intends to implement the installation of fencing, automated car park gates, and security shutters. The planning application states that employees have encountered “threatening behaviour, altercations and even harm” when utilizing the Rosemary Lane Car Park entrance during early morning and late night hours. Furthermore, the document indicates that staff members have been subjected to abuse when required to exit their vehicles to secure or unsecure the gate. As reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the planning application is anticipated to receive approval, given that both the City of Lincoln Council and Lincolnshire Police have stated they have no objections.
