Lincoln is providing complimentary parking for individuals participating in its festive events. On Thursday, complimentary parking will be available from 16:00 to 21:30 GMT at Lincoln Central car park and various council-operated pay and display locations throughout the city, coinciding with the Christmas lights switch-on. This free parking offer extends to the city’s late-night shopping evenings on December 5, December 12, and December 19, during the identical time frame. The commencement of Lincoln’s festive celebrations will be marked by the Christmas lights switch-on event. Motorists utilizing Lincoln Central will receive a chip token upon entry, incurring no fee if their entry and exit occur within the 16:00-21:30 period. The council stated that PayByPhone users will also not be charged during these specified hours. The Christmas lights switch-on event is scheduled to include a variety of performers and special guests, notably a performance by the New Theatre Royal’s pantomime cast. The Mayor of Lincoln is slated to illuminate the lights at 19:10. During the festive period, Lincoln will be illuminated across locations such as Brayford Wharf, Steep Hill, the Cornhill Quarter, and additional areas. Retail establishments participating in late-night shopping will remain open until 20:00.
