Despite spending a significant portion of the current season observing Wrexham from the sidelines rather than actively participating, Lewis Brunt has witnessed sufficient evidence to conclude that Phil Parkinson’s team possesses the capability to contend for promotion. Wrexham currently occupies the second position in League One, having secured a decisive victory against Exeter City during the weekend, following a prior defeat at Stockport. The Dragons are scheduled to face seventh-placed Lincoln City on Tuesday evening. Brunt asserts that Wrexham maintains confidence in its ability to compete effectively against any adversary within the third tier. The centre-back remarked, “If you look at the squad we have got, some of the names in there and some of the players, it’s just as good as anyone in the league.” He further added, “Every single player can come in and put on a performance so it’s no real shock to me where we are in the league.” Brunt made his complete league debut for Wrexham during the match against Exeter, having experienced a period of waiting for playing opportunities since his transfer from Leicester City in the summer. The 24-year-old indicated that manager Parkinson has provided assurances regarding his significant role at the Stok Racecourse. Following his commendable performance in the victory over Exeter, Brunt anticipates retaining his position in the squad for the upcoming fixture against Lincoln, a team whose six-game unbeaten streak concluded last Saturday with a defeat against league leaders Wycombe. Brunt further stated, “There’s no easy fixture in this league.” He concluded by saying, “We know what we are up against but we will be right and ready.”
