Leicester manager Amandine Miquel has expressed limited concern regarding her team’s low goal tally as they prepare to host Manchester United on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT. Leicester has only netted two goals in the Women’s Super League this season and will face a United squad that boasts the division’s strongest defensive record, having conceded just twice. “We are working as hard as we can to improve that stat,” Miquel stated. “It’s not ideal. It also reflects on the fact that 90% of our injuries are on offensive players which doesn’t help. We still have some players that are fit and that can attack and we are working on putting them in the best situation to be able to score.” Further insights from Miquel’s news conference included: Miquel conveyed her satisfaction with Leicester’s defensive statistics, noting they have conceded the fourth-fewest goals in the WSL. She remarked, “It has been going well so we are enforcing what is working well.” Regarding Manchester United’s recent form of three consecutive draws, Miquel suggested two potential outcomes for Leicester’s opponent: “Either they finally wake up and become really aggressive, or they lack confidence and struggle.” Miquel encouraged her players to adopt a more daring approach on the field, commenting: “Sometimes [they are] a bit too cautious, a bit too disciplined. Not enough taking risks.” While no new injury concerns have emerged, Sam Tierney (ankle) and CJ Bott (calf) are listed as doubts.
