Brittany Ferries has initiated legal proceedings against Deputy Kirstin Morel, Jersey’s Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, concerning the allocation of a ferry services contract. Deputy Morel granted the contract to the Danish firm DFDS in early December. The French company, which is the parent organization of former service provider Condor, commenced legal action against the deputy after its bid was unsuccessful. The Royal Court on Monday authorized Brittany Ferries to contest the decision to award the contract to DFDS. The court stated: “There are no pleadings in the public domain which the court can share at this stage.” Separately, in October, Guernsey selected Brittany Ferries to operate its maritime connections.
