Brittany Ferries has launched legal proceedings against the Jersey politician responsible for negotiating ferry services. Deputy Kirstin Morel, the Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, awarded the contract to the Danish company DFDS at the beginning of December. The French company, which owns the former provider Condor, initiated legal action against the deputy after its tender bid was unsuccessful. On Monday, the Royal Court granted permission for the company to challenge the decision to award the contract to DFDS. The court stated: “There are no pleadings in the public domain which the court can share at this stage.” In October, Guernsey selected Brittany Ferries to manage its sea links.
