Daniel Farke, head coach for Leeds United, stated that a final determination regarding Ethan Ampadu’s participation in Saturday lunchtime’s Championship fixture against Preston will be made at a later stage. Ampadu has accumulated 54 international caps for Wales. The club’s captain recently returned to action, entering as a late substitute in Tuesday’s victory against Middlesbrough, following an absence of over 10 weeks due to a knee injury. During his pre-match press conference, Farke commented, “He is my most important player but that does not mean he can play every minute just yet.” He further added, “You can’t expect after just one week of team training that he starts where he was before his injury. He needs time, you have to shake off the rust – but he’s in contention.” Additionally, Leeds plans to assess the physical condition of defenders Jayden Bogle, Max Wober, and Sam Byram before finalizing the team roster for their journey to Deepdale. Farke expressed specific apprehension concerning Wober, who is only four matches into his return after a three-month recovery period. Farke questioned, “Is Max capable of playing three games in seven days after such a long period out?” He also noted, “His knee was swollen after the last game – it has settled down and I hope he is available.”
