Lana Del Rey has confirmed a stadium performance scheduled for Glasgow’s Hampden Park during the upcoming summer. This event, set for June 26, will form part of the artist’s most extensive tour across the UK and Ireland to date, encompassing stadium appearances in Cardiff, Liverpool, Dublin, and London. The 39-year-old artist served as the headliner for this year’s Reading and Leeds festival and also led the lineup at the renowned American festival Coachella. Additionally, she garnered attention following her marriage to Jeremy Dufrene, an alligator tour guide, in Louisiana in September. Del Rey, whose birth name is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, rose to prominence in 2011 with the release of her single “Video Games,” which was subsequently followed by her self-titled debut album. Since then, she has issued nine albums and received several honors, notably two BRIT awards, all while cultivating a mysterious and glamorous public persona. Her most recent work, “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” garnered favorable reviews and secured a nomination for the Album of the Year award at the Grammy Awards. This concert at Hampden will mark her initial performance in Scotland since her 2017 appearance at the OVO Hydro, also in Glasgow. Nevertheless, she maintains additional connections to the city, having previously dated Glaswegian singer Barrie James O’Neill, a member of the band Kassidy, for a period. Hampden Park has frequently served as a venue for pop concerts in recent years, including performances by pop star Pink and the rock band Foo Fighters this past summer. Tickets will become available for purchase on Friday at 10:00. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved. The BBC disclaims responsibility for the content found on external websites.
