Tom English, BBC Scotland’s chief sportswriter, addressed inquiries concerning Kilmarnock. One question, posed by Frank, inquired whether Kilmarnock’s players had faced misfortune or severe judgment regarding player dismissals. English responded by acknowledging the frequency of such incidents. He noted that while a small number of red cards might have been harsh, the majority, based on his recollection, appeared justified or on the cusp. He commended Derek McInnes for his handling of the situation, observing that McInnes had not sought sympathy or offered excuses. Instead, McInnes largely accepted the consequences and criticized the decision-making displayed by some players during those moments. English further described some of the dismissals as “ludicrous from an indiscipline point of view and self-defeating.” Regarding Kilmarnock’s overall performance, English highlighted the additional challenge of competing in Europe. Despite this, he believes the team is currently in a “false position” and anticipates they “will come through.” He pointed out that they are “four points down on where they were last season” but expressed minimal concern for their prospects. English attributed this confidence to their “very, very good manager” and predicted that Kilmarnock “will be banging on the door at the top six,” though he cautioned that several other teams also share similar aspirations, meaning not all can achieve that ranking.
