A waste disposal facility in Leicestershire, which had been closed to the public due to “safety concerns” following damage caused by a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) on its premises, is scheduled to resume operations. The Kibworth Recycling and Household Waste Site ceased operations on 6 November. This closure occurred after a lorry, in the process of replacing a waste container, inflicted damage upon a steel canopy situated above the waste bays. Leicestershire County Council, the authority responsible for the facility, stated that the site, located off the A6, had been closed for a “structural assessment”. The council further announced that the waste site was expected to reopen on Tuesday. The Market Harborough tip, which had been operating daily since the Kibworth site’s closure, will now return to its standard opening hours, operating from Thursday to Saturday. The council indicated that certain bays at the Kibworth facility would continue to be inaccessible even after the site’s reopening. A spokesperson issued a statement, saying: “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.” The Kibworth tip operates from Sunday through Wednesday.
