Kenyan athlete Moses Kemei and Ethiopian runner Asmirach Nega emerged as the winners of the men’s and women’s events, respectively, at the Dublin Marathon held on Sunday. Kemei completed the race in a personal best of 2:08.46. Ethiopia’s Abebaw Desalew secured second place with a time of 2:09.23. Hiko Tonosa, a Dublin-based runner, set a new Irish record by finishing third in 2:09:42, also claiming the national marathon title. Nega achieved a record time of 2:24.13 in the women’s competition. Sorome Negash, who won the event last year, finished second with 2:24:45, and Grete Dukale secured third place in 2:28:29, resulting in an Ethiopian sweep of the top three positions. Ann-Marie McGlynn recorded a time of 2:34.04 to earn the Irish women’s national title. Additionally, Sean Frame from Scotland claimed victory in the wheelchair category with a time of 1:45.14.
