Rugby international Kathryn Treder, 28, who was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and represented the USA in the 2022 Women’s Rugby World Cup hosted by New Zealand, has declared that “history is being made” as the demand for tickets to the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup reaches unprecedented levels. The Loughborough Lightning player articulated her ongoing pursuit of the emotion she experienced while competing for her nation, stating, “”I am always trying to chase that feeling I felt when I played for my country,”” She further commented on the significant surge in interest, adding, “”We are part of an important history seeing this demand in interest and I hope to witness it on the pitch when the time comes.”” More than 220,000 tickets have already been purchased for the tournament, which will be held in England, thereby ensuring it will be the most attended event in its history. Organisers have indicated that 50% more tickets have been sold for the 2025 edition than were acquired for the previous tournament. American Treder, who plays as a hooker, remarked on the broader trend in women’s sports, saying: “”Women’s sports in general are having such a big breakthrough and it’s so thrilling for me to be a part off.”” She added that the increased fan attendance signifies the recognition and reward for their dedication: “”We are seeing our hard work being recognised and rewarded, which you see in the attendance of fans.”” Treder concluded by emphasizing the growing respect for female athletes: “”All teams are finally getting the respect we deserve for the sacrifices we put into the sport we love.”” Treder joined Loughborough, a club affiliated with Northampton Saints, for the 2023-24 season and subsequently extended her tenure with the club in the summer. The Lightning are scheduled to host Harlequins this Saturday at Saints’ Franklin’s Gardens, a venue that has been selected to host six World Cup games next year. Regarding the local match attendance, Treder observed, “”Our home and away games have seen the attendance building. It is all preparation for next year,”” She also acknowledged the collective effort contributing to this success: “”Loads of people have contributed to this, lots of dedication goes into marketing the team, so we have to give out a good product.”” Post navigation Leanne Crichton Returns to Glasgow City as Assistant Coach Former Winger Highlights Recurring Collapses in Leicester Squad
