The Royal British Legion in Jersey has disclosed that its annual poppy appeal for this year successfully generated £201,832.31, exceeding £200,000. This amount signifies an increase of over £15,000 compared to the total collected in 2023. The charity has been dedicated to assisting service personnel, veterans, and their families within Jersey since 1922. Alison Opfermann, the poppy appeal organiser, conveyed that the charity was “completely overwhelmed” by the generosity shown by the islanders. She further added: “Every penny we raise stays in Jersey, so on behalf of the island’s service veterans and their families, we offer sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated or made a purchase.” Tim Daniels, chairman of the Royal British Legion in Jersey, stated that every penny contributed to the poppy appeal would aid current or former members of the armed forces community. He also expressed appreciation for the charity’s volunteers, remarking that they worked “tirelessly behind the scenes.” Post navigation Hull Initiates Christmas Festivities with Weekend Market Event Airport Staff and Local Businesses Pull Boeing 737 in Charity Challenge
