The contract for Dr. Andrew McLaughlin, who serves as the chief executive officer and head of public services, has been prolonged by the States Employment Board. Dr. McLaughlin expressed that continuing in his position, now extended through December 2026, remains a “privilege.” During the States meeting held on Tuesday, Chief Minister Deputy Lyndon Farnham announced that Dr. McLaughlin’s compensation had also been increased. He stated that the chief executive’s salary, under the terms of the new agreement, has risen from £250,000 to £276,000. Farnham commented, “The salary of the chief executive was set at a level of £250,000 and it has been at that rate since 2018. “Under the new contract, the chief executive’s new salary will be £276,000.”He further noted that “The terms and conditions are broadly the same but have been adapted accordingly to reflect his status for a longer contract.” The Chief Minister indicated that the extension of the contract would provide “stability and continuity across the public sector up to and after the election.” Farnham additionally praised Dr. McLaughlin for exhibiting clear and collaborative leadership throughout Jersey’s public service, alongside strong governance and prudent financial management. Farnham concluded, “We look forward to working with him further.” Dr. McLaughlin stated, “I am committed to serving the Jersey community and supporting the chief minister and government, as we continue to provide essential frontline services and deliver on our priorities.”
