Organizers of Jersey’s Norman Christmas Market have conveyed their anticipation of collaborating with the newly appointed ferry operator. The market took place last week, having been postponed from its original schedule due to Storm Darragh. Anais Niobey, representing Maison de la Normandie, remarked that traders had maintained a productive relationship with Condor Ferries over the years and expressed her hope for a similar dynamic with the incoming provider, DFDS. Earlier this month, Jersey’s government announced its decision to select the Danish firm, DFDS, over Condor, following an extended tender process. During this period, Guernsey opted for Brittany Ferries, which holds ownership of Condor. Ms. Niobey stated: “We are looking forward to working with the new operator and the ideas for the traders to still be able to come at a sustainable price.” She added, “We were working well with Condor Ferries and we are just hoping it will be the same with DFDS in the future.” In early December, Filip Werne Hermann, head of Channel and Baltics at DFDS, indicated that it was too soon to provide specific details regarding sailings but promised an “attractive schedule” due to the company’s frequent, high-speed vessels. He also mentioned that his team was “working day and night” to finalize the booking portal, enabling travelers to reserve crossings. French traders participate in the Normandy Market, held at the Weighbridge, three times annually. For updates, follow BBC Jersey on X and Facebook.
