The fire service in Jersey has released a warning following the rescue of a dog from one of the island’s cliffs. A spokesperson for the service described the rescue as “wonderful” but indicated that it had left crews with “hearts in our mouths.” This caution comes after a video showed a volunteer helping the stranded dog from a narrow ledge at Les Landes. Fire teams stated that the individual had taken a “significant risk” in attempting to rescue the dog with “no safety equipment whatsoever.” The spokesperson said: “We don’t want to put a damper on this occasion, but we also don’t want someone else to take it upon themselves to conduct a similar rescue in future and get hurt or killed. “This event could very easily have become a human rescue too.” They urged anyone in a similar situation to call 999.
