A charitable organization in Jersey is encouraging individuals to register if they wish to receive a warm meal on Christmas Day or to share companionship. The Salvation Army announced its intention to assist those who might find it financially challenging to prepare a customary roast lunch this year. The trust confirmed its doors would be open to individuals on Christmas Day, and it would also provide an option on Christmas Eve for people to collect a dinner if they preferred to spend the holiday privately. Alice Nunn, Co-leader of the Salvation Army, mentioned that various activities have been arranged. She stated: “We absolutely loved doing Christmas Day here for the community and it is open to anybody that really could potentially be on their own, or sometimes couples that might be struggling that just want to be around other people.” “We love having that real family feel of all ages together and just having Christmas together to celebrate and enjoy a bit of cheer and share a bit of love and share a bit of care for each other.” Ms. Nunn indicated that the charitable group had prepared 200 gifts for Christmas Day. She explained that for some individuals attending on Christmas Day, this might represent their sole gift, prompting the organization to dedicate significant effort to procure thoughtful items for them to unwrap on Christmas.
