The indie group James has been confirmed as the headlining act for Saturday evening at a family-oriented festival. The Wychwood Festival is scheduled to occur at Cheltenham Racecourse between May 30 and June 1, 2025. This nine-member ensemble, originating from Manchester, represents the initial performer revealed for the upcoming year’s event. Iain Game, the festival’s director, has advised attendees to anticipate “much more to be announced” prior to an “unforgettable weekend together in the fields”. James launched their debut album in 1986 and have since released a total of 18 records throughout a career spanning more than three decades. The band boasts over 2.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with popular tracks including Sit Down, Laid, and Say Something. Their 2024 album, Yummy, achieved the band’s inaugural UK number one position on the album charts. Mr. Game expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re so excited to welcome James to the racecourse next summer, now armed with incredible new music to add to the classics we all know and love.” Currently in its 19th year, the Wychwood Festival has been characterized as the United Kingdom’s most rapidly expanding family festival and has consistently received nominations for Best Family Festival from the UK Festival Awards. Admission for children under 10 is complimentary, and the event offers numerous workshops suitable for children, comedy performances, and a cinema. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved.
