Law enforcement personnel confiscated a hammer, fireworks, and cannabis while enforcing a dispersal order in Arnold. Nottinghamshire Police implemented the 48-hour order starting Wednesday, following reports of anti-social behaviour involving young individuals in the period leading up to Halloween. Eight individuals under the age of 18 received Section 35 notices, which grant officers the authority to remove a person from a specific area for a maximum of 48 hours. According to the force, a 16-year-old boy was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, connected to the confiscated hammer. The scope of the dispersal order encompassed the town centre and nearby parks. Police stated that non-compliance with the order could lead to arrest. Chief Inspector Riz Khan commented: “The vast majority of young people have been out enjoying Halloween in the community.“Sadly, however, we did have to respond to several reports of isolated anti-social behaviour.“The dispersal order allowed us to target groups who were perceived as causing or likely to cause nuisance.” Michael Payne, the Member of Parliament for Gedling, communicated via social media that “additional police patrols in and around Arnold at present” are in effect. He further stated: “I will be keeping in close contact with police colleagues over the coming days and will do all I can to ensure tackling this sort of behaviour remains a top priority.”
