This month, various towns across the Isle of Man are scheduled to activate their Christmas lights, accompanied by festive celebrations. The following provides a schedule of these illumination events occurring throughout the island. Douglas, the island’s capital, will host its light switch-on at the Winter Wonderland on North Quay. Complimentary activities are set to commence at 17:30 GMT on Thursday, with the lights themselves being lit at 19:00. The festivities will feature an outdoor cinema, a fire show, and Santa’s grotto. Council leader Clare Wells commented: “We know that thousands of people come from all over the Island to see the lights and experience the Douglas atmosphere.” Ramsey’s light switch-on event is scheduled for 17:00 on Friday at the town’s courthouse. Additional attractions will include late-night shopping, children’s rides, crazy golf, the appearance of Father Christmas on his sleigh, and a performance by the Roc Vannin choir at 18:50. Onchan will host its “Night of light” event on 27 November at Onchan Park, with the lights set to be illuminated at 18:00. This will include complimentary entertainment for children, such as a treasure hunt, Santa’s grotto, and face painting. An outdoor cinema will also screen Christmas films starting at 18:15. In the western town of Peel, the Christmas lights will be activated at 16:15 on 30 November. The illumination ceremony at Market Place will be accompanied by stalls, dancing, and live music, commencing at 14:00. Castletown’s Christmas lights are scheduled to be lit at 18:00 on 7 December. The Market Square will also feature stalls from 10:30 and entertainment beginning at 15:30.
