Afternoon appointments with general practitioners have been suspended as doctors attend a training session. Routine appointment slots will not be available at the Isle of Man’s 14 surgeries between 13:00 and 18:00 GMT. However, practices will remain open for the purpose of scheduling future appointments and for the collection of repeat prescriptions and test results. Manx Care has advised individuals with urgent health issues during this period to contact their surgery to access the on-call GP in the afternoon. These training sessions, which have been conducted quarterly for over a decade, gather all general practitioners from the island to discuss developments in patient care. The healthcare provider indicated that the Manx Emergency Doctor Service, which is accessed by phone, would operate as usual from 18:00. Furthermore, treatment would be accessible at the Minor Injuries and Illnesses Unit at Ramsey Cottage Hospital until 20:00. The public has also been encouraged to utilize community-based services, including the minor ailments scheme managed by pharmacies and the minor eye conditions scheme provided by SpecSavers. Those without their own dentist can also contact the Community Dental Service during this timeframe.
