Samson Kuteyi, a 32-year-old from Nags Head Road, Enfield, North London, has been sentenced to six years in prison. This follows his attempt to import cannabis through Stansted Airport. Kuteyi operated as an international drug dealer, distributing cannabis on a commercial scale and employing a minimum of seven individuals. He supplied drugs directly to consumers and to other dealers who subsequently established their own distribution networks. During a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court, Kuteyi admitted guilt to several charges, including involvement in the supply of Class B drugs. The court was informed on Tuesday that he also pleaded guilty to charges related to the fraudulent circumvention of a ban on importing a Class B drug, as well as two counts of creating a false document with the intention of it being accepted as authentic. Kuteyi’s arrest occurred on April 22, 2023, at Heathrow Airport, before he could board a flight destined for Los Angeles. This apprehension was linked to a separate investigation. Law enforcement officers confiscated two mobile phones, over £7,000 and $500 in currency, and a Rolex watch valued at almost £43,000. According to Essex Police, an examination of the seized phones revealed Kuteyi’s involvement in acquiring substantial quantities of cannabis from the USA and Canada for importation into the UK. Between February 27, 2023, and April 21, 2023, Kuteyi had imported an estimated 89 to 95 kilograms of cannabis. Between August 2022 and June 2023, Border Force intercepted over 23 kilograms of the drug at Stansted Airport, preventing it from reaching its final recipients. Border Force personnel discovered the drugs in vacuum-sealed packages, each weighing approximately half a kilogram. While these packages originated from the USA and were addressed to various locations in the UK, law enforcement and Border Force successfully connected the airway bill reference numbers to Kuteyi. Authorities stated that Kuteyi participated in supplying a minimum of 14 kilograms of cannabis to individuals residing in the UK. Acting Detective Inspector Mike Monkton commented that drug sales and violence are intrinsically linked, going “hand-in-hand.” He further stated: “Samson Kuteyi was an international drug dealer involved in selling cannabis on a commercial scale, employing at least seven people.” Monkton emphasized, “Drugs are a poison on our society, infecting communities, and ruining lives.” He concluded by affirming, “We will now work to seize Kuteyi’s ill-gotten gains through the Proceeds of Crime Act.” Post navigation Police Appeal for Witnesses After Woman Sexually Assaulted and Pursued in Cheltenham Asylum Seeker Seeks Appeal Against Manslaughter Conviction and Sentence
