An inquest has concluded that a farmer’s death resulted from an accidental fall into a slurry pit. Islwyn Owen, aged 67, from Gwynedd, plunged into the pit located on his farm near Bala after ascending a low wall to adjust some machinery, the Caernarfon hearing was informed. Mr. Owen experienced asphyxia and sustained severe injuries to his right arm and chest, which were caused by the equipment. He was reported missing on the evening of 4 September and was discovered by a neighbour approximately 90 minutes later. Emergency medical personnel, dispatched to the farm in Llanycil, declared Mr. Owen deceased at the scene. Coroner Kate Robertson determined the fatality was accidental.
