Initial construction is scheduled to commence for a new £10.5 million day care facility at a hospital located in Leicestershire. According to the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board (LLR ICB), preparatory activities for the new unit will become visible to visitors at Hinckley and District Hospital “in the coming weeks.” The removal of asbestos from an existing structure is planned before its demolition. Subsequently, a new structure will be erected on the Mount Road site, designed to offer a broader spectrum of clinical specialities compared to those presently provided by the hospital. These specialities are slated to encompass breast care, general surgery, gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatric surgery, renal access surgery, urology, and vascular surgery. The asbestos abatement process is projected to continue until March 2025, concurrently with the LLR ICB’s development of a planning application for this government-funded initiative. Sarah Prema, Chief Strategy Officer, stated that the facility would serve as “a modern, fit-for-purpose day case unit for the local population, allowing care to be delivered closer to home.” This new establishment follows the prior creation of a community diagnostic centre at Hinckley hospital. Bill Cullen, who serves as chief executive of the planning authority Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, commented: “We welcome the continued positive work with our NHS colleagues to ensure investment in new health facilities in Hinckley for the benefit of residents in the borough.” Post navigation South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade Experiences Unprecedented Callout Volume New £16 Million Health Centre Receives Approval
