Emergency responders were dispatched to an industrial estate in North Lanarkshire following the second chemical incident within a fortnight. Individuals residing near the Northburn Industrial Estate, located on Cameron Street in Coatbridge, received advice to keep their windows shut subsequent to the incident being reported around 12:00. Law enforcement officials confirmed that no injuries were reported and the broader public faces no danger. The identical location experienced a chemical leak last week, resulting in four individuals receiving treatment from paramedics on-site. A police spokesperson stated: “A cordon has been put in place and nearby residents are asked to keep their windows closed while the substance is dealt with.” The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service deployed four fire engines to the location. A spokeswoman for the service commented: “Operations Control mobilised a number of resources, including specialist hazmat units, to a commercial premise on Cameron Street, Coatbridge, following reports of an incident involving potentially hazardous materials.“There were no reported casualties, and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.” Following the initial leak on Tuesday 5 November, multiple streets surrounding the industrial estate were sealed off, and police indicated that nearby properties were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Subsequently, residents received instructions to stay inside and ensure their doors and windows remained shut. Cameron Street was reopened the following day, and officers confirmed that investigations were continuing.
