An individual has been formally accused following an incident in Kent where two police officers were reportedly threatened with an axe. According to police, officers responded to a report concerning damage to a vehicle’s window on Chaucer Road in Gillingham shortly after 02:30 GMT on Tuesday. Two constables arrived at the location, where it is claimed that one officer was assaulted while a suspect, carrying an axe, attempted to depart the vicinity on foot, police reported. Mark Cork, residing at East Street, Chatham, was apprehended in the town centre. He was subsequently charged with several offenses: assaulting an emergency worker, possession of an axe in a public place, and two counts of threatening an individual with a bladed article. The 44-year-old individual is scheduled to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on January 8.
