A 31-year-old male individual has been taken into custody on suspicion of committing arson with the intention of endangering lives, subsequent to a fire at a residential apartment building. The Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to a call at approximately 08:30 GMT on Saturday, arriving at Laurel Place, situated on the Kingsbourne Estate, close to Nantwich. Five fire engines were dispatched to the location, where firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and ensure the evacuation of the remaining occupants from the structure. According to the fire service, the conflagration was thought to have been confined to a single apartment unit. Several residents underwent assessment for minor smoke inhalation, and one person requiring medical attention received treatment from paramedics. A facility for rest has been established in the vicinity. Cheshire Police has stated that the individual suspected of the crime is still being held in custody, and inquiries into the incident are continuing.
