An illuminated procession of farm vehicles is scheduled to traverse rural areas to generate funds for a hospice. The yearly RC Baker Tractor Run, featuring 100 decorated tractors, is set for Saturday, with spectators anticipated to gather as the vehicles pass through villages in north Oxfordshire. This event, conducted annually since 2016, collects donations for the Katharine House Hospice, situated in Adderbury. Rosann Thompson, a representative from the hospice, informed BBC Radio Oxford that the tractor run constitutes “just a massive fun festive event”. She stated: “Hundreds and thousands of people come out to watch and support the event, which brings in a fantastic energy to the evening.” She further commented: “Every year it draws more and more people, and the amount it raises has grown so much that it’s now become our flagship event at the hospice.” The inaugural run occurred nine years ago, with 26 tractors participating and generating approximately £2,000. By contrast, Ms Thompson indicated that the previous year’s event garnered “almost £50,000”. The decorated convoy is scheduled to depart from Spring Hill Farm, Barford St Michael, at 17:00 GMT on Saturday evening. The agricultural convoy’s itinerary includes South Newington, Milcombe, Bloxham, Clifton, Deddington, and Banbury. Approximately one hundred volunteers will be positioned along the route to collect donations for Katherine House Hospice. Prior to this year’s event, the hospice had to issue a warning regarding “several fake pages and groups” on Facebook that falsely represented themselves as the official Banbury Christmas Tractor Run. Katherine House delivers specialized palliative care annually to approximately 1,300 adults living with incurable illnesses. You can follow BBC Oxfordshire on Facebook, X (Twitter), or Instagram.
