An outbreak of sickness and diarrhoea has now affected two additional sections of Dr Gray’s Hospital, located in Elgin. According to NHS Grampian’s statement over the weekend, three wards had previously been closed to new patients, and access for visitors to the Moray hospital was restricted to essential individuals only. In addition to wards 5, 6, and 7, ward 8 and the acute medical assessment unit are also currently prohibiting new admissions. To specifically address and control the outbreak, an incident management team has been established. NHS Grampian stated: “We continue to see new cases of sickness and diarrhoea among patients and staff at Dr Gray’s Hospital.” Access to the site is restricted to essential visitors exclusively. This category encompasses parents of pediatric patients, relatives of patients receiving end-of-life care, carers and support persons for individuals with dementia or learning disabilities, and those providing support for pregnancy and childbirth.
