The food retail company Iceland is closing its ten stores located throughout the Channel Islands; however, customers will soon be able to purchase its products at Alliance shops. The future of the retailer’s operations in the islands had been unclear since Sandpiper announced its decision to sell its stores to the UK branch of Morrisons earlier this year. The company has confirmed that island residents will be able to buy its products in Alliance stores, as part of a newly established franchise agreement. Iceland Foods indicated a renewed emphasis on “delivering quality and affordability,” with the first Food Warehouse outside the UK slated to open in Guernsey at the start of 2025. As a franchisee, Alliance will offer Iceland’s various product lines, including its assortment of exclusive brands, seasonal merchandise, and an extended value range. Justin Addison, Iceland Foods’ international and partnerships director, stated: “Partnering with Alliance is a significant step forward for us in the Channel Islands. We’re delighted to work with Alliance to continue providing our customers in the Channel Islands with Iceland’s range of innovative, value-driven products.”
