The results of a Christmas card contest for students in Hull have been made public. Participants were tasked with creating a card for the city council, incorporating a theme related to Hull. Submissions featured various local elements, such as the Humber Bridge, penguins residing at The Deep, and a chip spice container reimagined as a Christmas tree. The two victorious card designs are slated for distribution to staff and collaborators throughout the region. A judging panel chose 10-year-old Oscar from Ainthorpe Primary as the top entry in the primary school division, while 13-year-old Lilah from Kelvin Hall secured the win in the secondary school division. Oscar’s submission depicted Hull Minster, whereas Lilah’s design showed Santa Claus in his sleigh soaring above Hull City Hall. Additionally, runners-up were identified, with nine-year-old Quinn from Thoresby Primary selected for the primary category and 13-year-old Lily from Kelvin Hall for the secondary category. During a ceremony held at the Guildhall, all four children were presented with gift vouchers by the Lord Mayor. Council leader Mike Ross commented: “We had so many great entries this year, particularly with secondary school pupils involved for the first time.” He added, “We certainly saw that our young people in the city are full of creativity and imagination, and I’d like to thank everyone who submitted their entry.” Post navigation Liverpool Expands School Street Restrictions with New Cameras Devon Council Proposes £21,000 Fine for Each School Exclusion
