Hull City Council is urging residents to submit doorbell camera footage documenting instances of dog fouling. The council noted that such incidents “tend to rise” during colder periods and is now seeking public assistance to identify irresponsible dog owners. The council stated that allowing a dog to foul on any land and subsequently failing to remove the waste constitutes a criminal offence. Individuals who do not clear up after their dogs face a fine of up to £50, with potential penalties reaching up to £2,500 if the matter proceeds to court. Councillor Charles Quinn commented on the issue, stating: “Dog fouling is a disgusting blight on our neighbourhoods, and we will not hesitate to issue fines to those who fail to comply.“As the nights draw in, it can be tempting to let standards slip, but we must remain diligent.“If you witness any person allowing dog fouling, or capture footage on your mobile, dash cam, video doorbell or CCTV, please report those responsible to us promptly.” Furthermore, LA Support Limited, the council’s enforcement contractor, conducts regular patrols in identified hotspots throughout the city to discourage dog fouling and assist in identifying those responsible.
