An application has been lodged to construct six new residential properties at the location of a previously operating pub in Hull. The establishment, known as The Flower Pot Pub, situated on Staveley Road within Bilton Grange, ceased operations in 2017, having provided service to the local community for many years. This proposal, which includes the demolition of the existing pub structure and the subsequent construction of the residences, has been presented to Hull City Council. According to the details provided in the application, each of the planned homes will feature three bedrooms and an individual back garden. This latest submission follows several prior unsuccessful development attempts for the site. In 2019, the council had given approval for a scheme to transform the building into a convenience store, accompanied by two apartments on the upper level; however, this project was never realized. Subsequently, in 2021, local councillors denied a separate planning application that sought to add an extension to the premises, which would have resulted in six apartments and ground-floor retail spaces, encompassing two takeaway establishments. Objections were voiced regarding the close proximity of these potential takeaways to a nearby school. The Local Democracy Reporting Service reported that soon after the pub’s closure, Humberside Police uncovered a significant cannabis cultivation operation situated on the building’s first floor.
