Proposals for the refurbishment of a hotel situated close to a significant road in Hull have been lodged with the local authority. These proposals encompass modifications to various elements of the Holiday Inn, such as its bar and restaurant section, conference amenities, and portions of the structure’s exterior. Additionally, enhancements are suggested for the hotel’s outdoor seating space, reception area, and courtyard. These alterations are scheduled in conjunction with the £355 million A63 improvement project, which entails reducing the road’s elevation to establish a split-level intersection at Mytongate. The Local Democracy Reporting Service reports that vehicular access to the Holiday Inn from A63 Castle Street will be obstructed for drivers approaching from the eastern side of the city upon the project’s conclusion, anticipated in May 2025. Although drivers will be restricted to accessing the hotel solely from the west, pedestrians will retain entry via the Princes Quay Bridge. Furthermore, the proposals indicate the 100-room hotel’s intention to eliminate its fitness facility and meeting room offerings, and to substitute the existing glazed balconies. Hull City Council is set to determine whether to approve planning permission at a later time.
