A local rink has completed its final rollerskating session as it prepares for the upcoming Christmas season and actively seeks a new location. The Rec Rink in Horsham welcomed rollerskaters for the last time on Saturday. The facility is scheduled to operate as an ice rink between November 15 and January 5, after which it will close permanently. Owner Rebeca McDowell has already commenced the “incredibly difficult” process of finding a new site. Ahead of the closure, Ms. McDowell informed BBC Radio Sussex: “It will be a really sad occasion but we have been so lucky over the past two years running the roller skating rink, we have met so many of the community.” The Rec Rink originally began as an ice rink in 2021, subsequently transitioning to a roller rink the following year. Ms. McDowell explained that the move became necessary because Horsham District Council had secured a new tenant for the premises. A spokesperson for The Rec Rink stated: “It goes without saying that we are desperately sad that the roller rink is losing its home and we will no longer be able to provide you with this unique space that so many have come to love like a second home.” The council confirmed: “We can confirm that the roller rink is closing from 3 November.”
