An equine animal was successfully extricated after becoming lodged 1.2 meters (4 feet) down a riverbank in Staffordshire. Multiple emergency teams, including specialist animal and water rescue units, were dispatched to a site off Trent Lane, Ingestre, near Stafford, just before 09:45 GMT on Wednesday. The rescue operation spanned several hours, according to the fire service, with personnel concluding their work and departing the location shortly before 14:30. Rescuers reported discovering the fatigued creature immobilized in silt within approximately one meter (3 feet) of water. The horse was safely removed using specialized equipment and underwent an assessment by a veterinarian at the scene. It was subsequently returned to its stables and will be kept under observation over the forthcoming days, the fire service further confirmed.
