Peter Horisk, the assistant manager for Errigal Ciaran, expressed his conviction that brothers Ruairi and Darragh Canavan are set to “continue to excel” in both club and county competitions. Ruairi Canavan contributed 0-6 to Errigal Ciaran’s victory in the Tyrone final. Ruairi’s contribution of 0-6 was instrumental in his team securing the Tyrone Senior Football Championship title last weekend, overcoming previous champions Trillick with a score of 0-12 to 1-8. When questioned about whether Ruairi’s recent performance indicated he was stepping out of his brother Darragh’s shadow, Horisk responded tactfully. He informed BBC Sport NI, “Not too many times would Ruairi say he’s in anybody’s shadow!” Horisk added, “They are two good lads, their parents have brought them up well and I’m sure they will continue to excel whatever they do.” Horisk acknowledged that the predominant emotion following their ninth O’Neill Cup victory in the closely contested final last Saturday was “relief.” He elaborated, “We knew going into it that it would a be a battle, and it could have gone either way because it came down to that point we got by Ruairi.” He further stated, “Relief was the big thing you could see in all the boys’ faces afterwards; we knew Trillick had set the barometer the last number of years, so it was good to get over it in a tight game.” Errigal Ciaran is scheduled to face St Eunan’s of Letterkenny in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship preliminary round this Saturday at Healy Park. Horisk indicated his readiness for another challenging match in Omagh against a team that secured their 16th Donegal title by defeating Dungloe in their final. Horisk commented, “St Eunan’s are a super team, they’ve been there [latter stages of the Donegal Championship] in the last four years, won two finals and lost in another, so they’re serious. “Donegal football is always really competitive and St Eunan’s have a very strong forward line and midfield, and they have a real tough defence, so it will be another battle.” Post navigation Aldershot Town Manager Tommy Widdrington’s Recovery Progresses After Strokes Neil Critchley Previews Heidenheim Clash, Discusses Team Readiness and Ball Control
