A homeless man has stated he has accumulated more than £10,000 for organizations assisting the homeless, achieved through a series of piano concerts held in churches across Cornwall. Earlier this year, a video showcasing Rhys Wynne-Jones playing the piano in a Penzance church gained significant traction on social media. The 32-year-old has since undertaken numerous concerts throughout the county, with all proceeds directed to Mandown Cornwall, Centre Point, and Nightchurch Penzance. Mr. Wynne-Jones commented that it was “heartwarming” to have made a difference, with the funds being used to purchase sleeping bags and tents for homeless individuals. Mr. Wynne-Jones has been without a permanent home since January and is currently residing in supported accommodation until he secures a permanent residence. He noted that his concerts were attended by hundreds, but he “didn’t expect to get standing ovations.” “I’ve met so many beautiful people during my whole tour of Cornwall and they helped me put on a show,” he said. He mentioned that one of his most notable surprises was a personal message from Queen drummer Roger Taylor, who grew up in Truro. “After hearing your dazzling rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody I would like to wish you all the best for your concerts,” Taylor stated in a message that was read aloud in Truro Cathedral.
