Public transport bus schedules in the Leicester area are set to be altered during the upcoming holiday period. All companies providing bus services within the city have implemented adjustments to account for the Christmas and New Year public holidays. Furthermore, the city’s Park and Ride facilities will experience service disruptions, with no operations scheduled for Christmas Day, December 26, and New Year’s Day. Separately, the nationwide £2 fare limit for bus travel will conclude on December 31, to be replaced by a £3 cap for the entirety of 2025. The modifications to Leicester’s bus schedules will commence on Monday, December 23, at which point Arriva services across Leicestershire will follow a Saturday timetable. Christmas Eve will also see Arriva operating a Saturday schedule. Services city-wide will conclude earlier than usual, with First Bus ending at 18:00 GMT and other operators’ routes finishing from 19:00. No bus services are planned for Christmas Day or Boxing Day, with the sole exception of the Skylink, which will run a Sunday service starting at 04:25 on December 26. For December 27, route 22B will be suspended, however, the HH, 162, 81, and 83/A routes will maintain their regular Friday operations, while all other services will adopt a Saturday timetable. Following a standard weekend schedule, Monday, December 30, will again feature the suspension of route 22B. A Saturday service will be in effect for all other routes, with the exception of the HH, 162, 81, and 83/A routes, which will run their typical weekday schedules. On New Year’s Eve, all routes will follow a Saturday service pattern, with early terminations commencing from 18:00, except for the Skylink, which will continue operations until 02:55 on New Year’s Day. Nevertheless, no regular bus routes will be operational on January 1. Standard timetables will resume from January 2, with the exception of Arriva services, which will maintain a Saturday schedule on Thursday and Friday before reverting to normal timetables from Saturday, January 4. For precise timetables, including details on early service conclusions, passengers are advised to consult individual bus operators, according to Leicester Buses.
