A highways maintenance worker has died in hospital following a multi-vehicle collision on the A30 in Cornwall. Police reported that the man, aged in his 50s, was an occupant of one of two highways maintenance vehicles involved in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) on the west-bound carriageway near Launceston. The incident occurred at approximately 07:30 GMT on Sunday. The driver of the HGV, a 51-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, according to Devon and Cornwall Police. Another individual from the road maintenance vans was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the force further stated. Authorities confirmed that specialist officers are providing support to the family of the man who passed away in hospital on Sunday evening. The A30 was closed for several hours to allow for an investigation and recovery work to be carried out. Police have appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage of the collision, which occurred near the Pennygillam slipway, to contact them.
