David Gray, manager of Hibs, is pressing his squad to exhibit a decisive attacking prowess when they face Ross County, with the objective of moving away from the bottom of the Scottish Premiership. The Easter Road club currently sits three points behind County, who are in eighth place, but a win would allow them to surpass their opponents in the league table. Gray acknowledges that for his team to secure a victory in Leith, their performance in front of goal must improve. Having scored 18 times in 16 games, from an expected goals (xG) figure of 22.7, Hibs are tied as the third lowest scorers in the league this season. This follows their recent defeat at Celtic last weekend, where they squandered clear-cut scoring opportunities. “It’s not just the strikers, we’ve had players missing big chances and it’s definitely the area that’s let us down,” Gray commented. “We know we need to be more clinical and that has to change quickly.” Regarding their league position and the significance of the upcoming match, Gray added: “We’re bottom of the league but if we beat County we go up to eighth, it just shows how tight the league is. We know they’re three points above us and we can’t let them go any further ahead.” Gray concluded by emphasizing the club’s expectations: “When you play for this club the expectation doesn’t go away. This is a game where we can’t look at anything other than that we’re expected to win.”
