The National Lottery has awarded £200,000 to a volunteering initiative. This funding will enable the HEY! Volunteering Programme to broaden its activities. The program assists individuals in participating in cultural and arts events throughout the region. Volunteers from the program, identifiable by their blue uniforms, are frequently seen at festivals and events within Hull and East Yorkshire. The funds, sourced from the Heritage Innovation Fund, are designated for expenditure over the coming two years, covering recruitment efforts, training programs, and the acquisition of new equipment and resources. Councillor Rob Pritchard, representing Hull City Council, commented: “I would like to offer my congratulations to the HEY! Volunteers team on this grant.” He added, “The programme continues to prove incredibly popular and as a volunteer myself, I look forward to seeing how it develops and grows with this additional support.” During August, a contingent of volunteers traveled to London on Yorkshire Day. Their activities included distributing white roses and the Hull delicacy, chip spice. Additionally, they handed out white postcards in an effort to encourage tourism to the region.
