Information has been disclosed regarding the allocation of a £3.257 million government investment aimed at improving bus services within Herefordshire. The unitary council expressed its approval of the funding earlier this week, stating that these services are “vitally important” for the county and that the funds would facilitate the connection of “people and communities”. Several routes are slated to receive enhancements, including more frequent services and, for some, extended operating hours. The number 476 service, operating between Hereford and Ledbury, will introduce an hourly frequency, alongside the reintroduction of an hourly service for the number 492 route. Additionally, the investment will facilitate the extension of the 78X route to include Shell Store. Herefordshire Council indicated that passengers on the 492 route will gain access to a later afternoon service. The number 36 bus will operate every two hours during afternoon peak periods and on Sundays. Furthermore, the 420 service connecting Bromyard and Worcester will be restored, and additional late-night journeys will be arranged for the 461. The council further stated that the funding will also maintain support for the Sunday services of both the 420 and 476 buses.
