Actor Henry Cavill has acknowledged a shop in Jersey that was instrumental in fostering his early interest in the game Warhammer. In a post shared on social media, Cavill stated that he “decided to make a pilgrimage to the very first place I bought Warhammer models over 30 years ago…. the Little Shop, on my home island of Jersey”. In 2023, an announcement was made regarding Games Workshop, the creator of Warhammer 40,000, confirming a completed agreement with Amazon to adapt the franchise’s characters and narratives for on-screen production. Warhammer is a game that involves simulating battles using armies composed of miniature painted models. The BBC reported in 2023 that Cavill, widely recognized for his portrayal of Superman, would serve as an executive producer and had committed to acting in the project. Within his social media update, he mentioned that his team and media executives had “been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts”. According to The Little Shop in Jersey, Cavill was a frequent customer who showed significant interest in Warhammer figures and paints. The shop commented: “We’re flattered and humbled after all these years that he still remembers us.” The shop also noted that “A few people mentioned the post to us – it’s such an honour, the Little Shop is so famous now in such a big world.” For updates, follow BBC Jersey on X and Facebook.
