Harry Watling has concluded his tenure as manager of Ebbsfleet United, having been in the position for a mere three months. His sole victory as Ebbsfleet boss was achieved in his inaugural match. The 35-year-old guided Fleet to a record of just one win and nine losses across his 15 games in charge. The club currently sits at the bottom of the National League table, six points adrift. Ebbsfleet’s only win of the season, a 1-0 triumph against Hartlepool United, occurred in Watling’s initial game, and the team is now 11 points away from a safe position. Watling, a former coach for Glasgow Rangers and Queens Park Rangers, had taken over from Danny Searle, who was dismissed on 9 September. He previously collaborated with Michael Beale during Beale’s time managing QPR and Rangers. Additionally, Watling served as head coach for the USL Championship side Hartford Athletic for 18 months, beginning in January 2021. Ebbsfleet United has announced that Josh Wright will assume the role of first team manager “going forward,” with assistance from David Kerslake, who previously served as Watling’s number two.
